2. League – Regensburg fails to Rostock, HSV draw against KSC – Sport

The SSV Jahn Regensburg lost ten days after the bitter end in the DFB Cup in the 2nd division against Hansa Rostock. The Upper Palatinate lost 2: 3 (1: 1) at home on Saturday and missed the temporary lead in the table. Sarpreet Singh (34th) and Charalambos Makridis (90th) scored for the Jahn, John Verhoek (43rd / 52nd) and Hanno Behrens (49th) netted for the guests and gave Rostock air in the middle of the table. The robust initial phase belonged to the home side, who in front of 8,618 spectators only rewarded themselves late at half-time with a dream kick from Singh – Hansa keeper Markus Kolke stretched in vain. In the middle of the following Jahn-Drang phase, the surprising goal fell. A flank slipped through to Verhoek, who hit undisturbed. Strengthened by the equalization, the promoted team made a lightning start in the second half. Behrens first rounded Jahn keeper Alex Meyer and easily pushed in to take the lead. Only three minutes later, Verhoek was completely free again and turned the game around. The subsequent hit by Makridis came too late.

Meanwhile, Hamburger SV is not really gaining momentum. The 1: 1 (1: 1) at Karlsruher SC on Saturday evening was already the eighth draw in the 13th game of the season, with 20 points now HSV is stuck in seventh place. Four points separate the team of coach Tim Walter from third-placed SC Paderborn. KSC (17) is tenth.

Sonny Kittel (14th) had put the guests in the lead with a nice flick, but it didn’t last long. KSC striker Philipp Hofmann (18th) equalized just four minutes later. Shortly before the break, Marvin Wanitzek (43.) missed the chance for the opening goal for Karlsruhe, his shot was still decisively deflected. The game remained open in the second half and continued to offer many deals. Walter, who used to work as a youth coach at KSC, tried to use fresh strength to generate momentum. Instead, Karlsruhe suddenly had a huge chance to make it 2-1. Wanitzek hit the right post (80th), from there the ball hit Marko Johansson, who was lying on the ground and only defused the scene when he followed up.
