When a professional footballer is signed for a whopping 80 million euros, he has to deliver. And that’s exactly what Lucas Hernández didn’t do. On the contrary: he only played 69 of 107 possible competitive games for his club – also for injury reasons. But: In the games in which he played, he showed far too often average performances. But that’s not all.
He is now facing a prison sentence of several months. And even if the case that is currently at stake was negotiated before his time at FC Bayern, the topic is not over. It’s too weighty for that. Rather, one has to wonder why the record champions signed a player who had already been convicted of domestic violence.
One thing is certain: Lucas Hernández not only does not do justice to the title of “FC Bayern record transfer”, but also causes unrest in the entire club through his private misconduct. And that’s why he’s the biggest flop in Bayern history.
