Trans-Europ-Express – the most famous German train: Until October 31st you can visit a real TEE in Berlin – Berlin

A special guest will be in Berlin in October: in the German Museum of Technology you can visit what is probably the most famous German train, the “Trans-Europ-Express” (TEE). The railcar was built for cross-border traffic within Europe from 1957.

The interior can be viewed every Wednesday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the museum announced – but only until October 31. Plush seats and veneered walls have been preserved, reminiscent of the “upscale travel of the economic boom”.

The train can be viewed outside on every day the museum is open; it is located on the museum platform in the open-air area. The daily mirror had already reported in mid-September that the TEE is coming to Berlin. The occasion was a conference of European transport ministers in the museum.

The TEE multiple units of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, designated as VT 11.5, with the strikingly rounded head were designed by industrial designer Klaus Flesche and presented at the famous documenta art exhibition, the museum announced. However, the VT 11.5 can no longer drive itself, as there is not enough money. The railcar belongs to the DB Museum.
