The Playoffs – “Visitantes em casa”, Chargers batem Raiders no Monday Night Football

The Los Angeles Chargers hosted the Las Vegas Raiders and their fanatical Southern California fans (the Raiders were the majority in the stands) and showed no fear: they beat their rival by 28-14 and took the team’s unbeaten run from Jon Gruden this Monday (04), for week 4 of the NFL.

The highlight was Justin Herbert. The sophomore threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half.

Both teams have a 3-1 campaign and play at home next Sunday (10). The Chargers face the Cleveland Browns, while the Raiders host the Chicago Bears. Both games start at 5:05 pm.

The game had its start delayed by 35 minutes due to a sequence of lightning that fell in the Inglewood region. When the match began, the Chargers went all out: Justin Herbert led the charge until he found Donald Parham Jr. in the end zone to open the scoring.

After dominating defenses, LA opened 14-0 four minutes before the break, with a beautiful pass from Herbert to Jared Cook. The Chargers ride continued in the last drive of the period, with another touchdown, with a pass from shirt 10 to Austin Ekeler.

The start of the second half brought a team from Las Vegas with a different posture. Converting important third downs, the Raiders scored the first TD in the game after Derek Carr’s pass to Hunter Renfrow. The visitors, pushed by the crowd that was the majority at the stadium, got excited and hit the scoreboard for good after another strong campaign, which ended with a pass from Derek Carr to Darren Waller at the edge of the end zone.

In the fourth period, Daniel Carlson missed a 52-yard field goal that would further diminish the Raiders’ disadvantage. The Chargers were fatal on the next play, which ended with a nice running touchdown from Austin Ekeler.

The game gained final contours on the next drive, when Derwin James Jr. intercepted Derek Carr to confirm the Los Angeles victory.
