Brazilian football legend Mouse announced two weeks after being discharged from the hospital that he was feeling better and even joked that he could not expect to return to the pitch.
The 80-year-old Mouse spent a month in a hospital in Sao Paulo. He underwent surgery for colon cancer and underwent a course of chemotherapy. “Thank God I feel better, I’m even ready to play on Sunday,” he jokes in a video posted to his two children’s Instagram accounts. On September 4, Mouse underwent surgery after a suspected tumor was diagnosed at a regular health examination.
The results of the biopsy have not been made public, and the former footballer, his family and the medical center do not comment on whether the tumor was malignant. Chemotherapy is commonly used to treat cancer. On October 23, Mouse will celebrate its 81st birthday. He is considered one of the best footballers of all time in the world.
Mouse is one of only four players to score in four different World Cups and score 77 goals in 92 games for his national team before leaving the national team in 1971. He is the only player to have won the World Cup three times. He introduced the phrase “beautiful game” to describe football. In total, during the career, Mouse has scored more than 1,000 goals, which is an officially unbeaten record.
