The Kiberman foursome wins the third place in the first competition on the Olympic track

The Latvian bobsleigh pilot Oskars Ķibermanis took the third place in the first competition of the season on the Olympic track in Beijing on Tuesday, but Dāvis Kaufmanis with his four took the seventh place.

In first place was the German pilot Francesco Friedrich, but in second place, 0.3 seconds behind the leader, was the German Johannes Johannes Lohner’s four.

Ķibermanis with pushers Dāvis Spriņģis, Matīss Mikni and Kristi Lindenblat was 0.66 seconds behind Friedrich’s crew in the sum of two races. The Latvian four showed the third best time in both races.

Kaufman’s crew with co-drivers Dan Ivo Kleinberg, Lauri Kaufman and Edgar Nemmi had the third best start in both races, but further time was lost on the track, the sum of two races was 0.97 seconds behind the leader. In the first race, Kaufman’s four had the sixth best time, but in the second – the ninth.

It has already been reported that on Monday Ķibermanis and Mikni took the seventh place in the doubles competition, Kaufmanis and Nemme took the 15th position, but Emīls Cipulis and Kleinbergs finished the competition in the 24th place.

Women’s bobsleigh doubles crews also started on the Yangtze River track on Monday, but men’s doubles bobsleigh crews as well as skeletonists started on Monday.

This year, the World Cup season will start on November 15 in Igls, where the competition will take place for two weekends in a row. All stages of the World Cup will take place only on European tracks – eight stages, four countries, five tracks. Also this year, one stage will take place on the Sigulda track, where skeletonists will conduct the competition on New Year’s Eve, but bobsleighers – on the first two days of the new year.
