Successful start for CROS Occitanie

Thanks in particular to the various actions labeled Sentez-Vous Sport, the CROS Occitanie has had a busy start. A look back at the last few weeks with Amélie Berthe, project manager at CROS Occitanie.

What is the outcome of this new school year for CROS Occitanie?

In quantitative terms, we were able to carry out six actions labeled Sentez-Vous Sport by the CNOSF. This has enabled us to educate more than 1,200 people about the benefits of physical activity and sports. They are people divided into different types of public according to the actions that we were able to carry out. There are around 1000 people for the general public who were made aware during the Vital Sport operation organized by Decathlon Odysseum, during the Association Day in Prades-le-Lez, but also on the occasion of Sportissime, a day organized by Le Cercle Mozart.

With regard to the school public, we were able to sensitize a little more than 200 young people, in particular in middle and high school. We participated in the National Day of School Sports which took place in the Aude. Outdoor activities were offered and the CROS was able to benefit from an awareness workshop on health sport on site. We were also associated with the Regional Handisport Committee for the Handi en fête event in Toulouse.

After the period of health crisis, was the craze stronger than usual?

What is certain is that we felt a real pleasure from the people who came to discover activities and get back to moving. We sincerely hope that this will make it possible to increase licenses within clubs, in particular via the systems put in place since the start of the school year such as the Pass’Sport and the Gateway Card. These devices relate more specifically to young practitioners. We therefore hope that the actions that have been put in place by the CROS and by the entire sports movement will help revive the dynamic around sports activity.

The public was won over, is this also the case with the sports movement?

The associations were satisfied to be present at this type of event which had either been postponed or canceled due to the health context. They were able to present their disciplines and offer initiations.

How to continue to keep this dynamic alive?

We have projects that are developed throughout the year. In particular, we will mobilize the Leagues and Regional Committees on actions aimed at our various target audiences. I am thinking of schools, but also of companies. We had initiation actions and sporting challenges in September, the goal is to make this continue with time for practice and awareness within the structures. More broadly, on all of our actions, there are long-term projects aimed at schoolchildren with our Education offer which integrates the sports movement on initiations that schools would like for their students. The common thread remains Paris 2024 with specific workshops that will continue to be set up during our various actions.
