The dead Kenyan runner Agnes Jebeta Topa was found dead at her home in Itena, according to the Kenya Athletics Association (UK).
According to local media, the 25-year-old athlete is likely to have been murdered because he was found with several stab wounds to his body.
“We are still working to find out the circumstances of her death. Kenya has lost one of the most advanced runners in the international arena,” the UK said in a statement.
Tiropa won bronze medals in the 2017 and 2019 World Championships in the 10,000 meter race. This summer, she finished fourth and a half shorter at the Tokyo Olympics.
A month ago, she set a world record in a ten-kilometer highway race.
