Tammy Abraham Gives Proof, not Promise

Andorra la Vella

Tammy Abraham scored as England crushed Andorra 5-0. This is proof that Abraham can be relied on by the Three Lions as a source of goals.

Abraham became a starter in the continuation of the 2022 World Cup Qualifications for the European zone Group I at the Estadi Nacional d’Andorra, Sunday (10/10/2021) early morning WIB. In this match, manager Gareth Southgate did a lot of overhauling his team.

The players who usually sit on the bench are played. Only Kieran Trippier and John Stones are the main players. Abraham was installed with Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka up front.

Abraham was not only a striker, but he played a role in opening up space for his friends, Abraham wanted to find the ball and snatch it from the opponent on several occasions.

After England took a 2-0 lead through goals from Ben Chilwell and Saka in the first half, Abraham listed his name on the scoreboard through a flick of Jadon Sancho’s cross in the 56th minute.

England eventually won 5-0 after James Ward-Prowse and Jack Grealish added goals. This victory was sweet for Abraham who was finally called up again to the national team after November 2020.

Abraham failed to appear at Euro 2020 due to the lack of flying time at Chelsea since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel last January. Abraham decided to withdraw to AS Roma this summer and managed to bounce back.

From 10 games passed, Abraham successfully contributed four goals and three assists. It was this performance that made Southgate finally smitten and Abraham was happy to be able to answer it with a goal.

Throughout the 80 minutes, Abraham won all aerial duels, touched the ball 28 times, won six ball battles, tried three times, skipped three times, with two shots on target.

“As a striker, you always want to take penalties but the coach said that James was the executor. Hopefully my performance proves that I am on the right track,” said Tammy Abraham in BBC Sport.

“Hopefully I can continue like this and get better. I’m very disappointed that I can’t go to the Euros, but now I play more regularly. The competition in this team is so tight,” continued the player who has scored two goals from seven caps at The Three Lions that.
