Suitors and Contestants – Joshua Maya

In Saturday’s column we talked about how Week 6 represents a third of the season and it seems appropriate to cut the box and start separating the contenders from the suitors. There are teams that do not belong to one or the other and today it is not worth mentioning them.

The key and flashy games of the week let us see that both the Ravens and Cardinals will be contenders for the remainder of the season and in the Playoffs.

The Arizona offense is something out of the ordinary, Kyler Murray, also a candidate for MVP, has all the necessary weapons to carry out his game, which at times seems like a video game: his ability to get out of the bag, evade pressure , giving his entire receiving body the opportunity, which by the way is great, to make a big play in every passing situation. As if that were not enough, they acquired Zach Ertz.

The Ravens from the hand and legs of Lamar Jackson, although it was not even close to their best game, they plummeted the Chargers to the ground. They dominated the game from start to finish, with a rushing attack of nearly 200 total yards; by air he gets better and better with Andrews and Hollywood Brown. And the defense, despite all the casualties, is picking up pace.

In the AFC, in addition to the Ravens are the Bills, who should not have a problem tonight to dust the poor defense of the Titans. Hence, stop counting, I understand that many will be struck by not seeing the Chiefs, but they are in that line in which they have to define which group they belong to.

In the NFC it seems a little more competitive, Arizona has already shown that it can easily beat good teams, including the Rams, who in turn beat Tom Brady’s Bucs, however, these three have time to improve. To this group we can unite the Cowboys and the Packers, groups with many ‘playmakers’, especially on offense, who change a game like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs did yesterday in Foxboro, or like Aaron does. Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Davante Adams every week.
