Raptors win by three points in Indiana

(Indianapolis) Scottie Barnes had 21 points and the Toronto Raptors posted a third straight victory on Saturday, winning 97-94 over the tough Pacers in Indiana.

Drafted fourth this year, Barnes also posted 12 rebounds.

However, he appeared to injure his right hand late in the game.

X-rays were negative, but he could have injured his thumb, the Raptors said. The club will monitor the situation for a few days.

Reservist Svi Mykhailiuk scored 16 points, as did Fred VanVleet.

“I would say that we are developing yes chemistry (reservists),” Mykhailiuk said. No one plays selfishly. ”

OG Anunoby provided 15 points, including three three-pointers.

Gary Trent and Montrealer Chris Boucher each added eight points.

Khem Birch, also of Montreal, notably made a dunk which gave an 89-84 cushion to the visitors, on an offensive rebound.

“The reservists have been exceptional,” said VanVleet. This is what we want, for several players to contribute.

“Svi, I knew he has talent (before he joined Toronto in August). I went through Wichita State, so I followed a lot what was happening with the University of Kansas (where the Ukrainian was playing). ”

A long three-point shot from VanVleet brought the score to 92-84 in favor of the Raptors, with 1:42 on the clock.

Two Barnes free throws brought the score to 97-94, then Domantas Sabonis missed the mark in the Pacers’ last hope shot.

“In the second half we did a good job of playing tough while avoiding fouls,” said Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

The Raptors’ overseas stay will continue Monday and Wednesday, in New York and Washington.

Sabonis collected 22 points for the Pacers, beaten for the fourth time in a row.
