Novak Djokovic criticizes Corona reporting

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has criticized the media’s behavior in the course of reporting on the corona virus. According to the Serb, the corona vaccination reports are too one-sided.

“I have no words to describe the media. They spread fear and panic among the people and I don’t want to be part of it,” Djokovic said in an interview with the Serbian newspaper view. “It feels like everyone is hostile. Now that I’ve said this, one of you journalists can make a scandal out of it. But I don’t want to be part of this shitstorm.”

The constant questions about his vaccination status would particularly annoy him. “No matter whether you answer with ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘maybe’, ‘don’t know’ or ‘I’m thinking’ – they will turn the answer around,” said Djokovic. “This is a private matter and under our law I could sue someone who asks me about it. The question is inappropriate.” The Serb does not want to reveal whether he has been vaccinated against the corona virus himself.

Since only fully vaccinated people are currently allowed to enter Australia, Djokovic’s participation in the Australian Open is open. According to Australian immigration minister Alex Hawke, the complete vaccination protection is “universal” and “not only for tennis players,” the politician said ABC Radio.

Djokovic himself had last left a participation in the first Grand Slam tournament of the coming year open. “I don’t know if I’ll go to Australia. The current situation is not good,” said the tennis star.
