Nadia Podoroska gets off Indian Wells

The Argentine tennis player confirmed her withdrawal from the tournament through her social networks, due to physical problems. Podoroska was going to be seeded No.29, making her debut against Egypt’s Mayar Sherif. His place will be occupied by the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Nadia Podoroska has generated some surprise in Argentine tennis by getting off at the last minute of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells. Throughout the 2021 season, the native of Rosario had different physical ailments that did not allow her to take full advantage of her tennis growth and her pre-qualification in many tournaments. For Nadia, this was going to be her first time in the Californian desert.

Rosario published the unexpected announcement through her Twitter account, expressing her pain at not being able to compete in the tournament. “Sorry to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open. I continue to evolve from the physical ailments that are preventing me from competing this year as I would have liked, and I came to Indian Wells with the hope of playing again, but together with my team we decided not to risk it. All I want is to compete 100% as soon as possible “announced the brief statement from Podoroska.

His season

Beyond the fact that perhaps her year did not leave as many positive feelings as expected, Rosario has been able to firmly establish itself in the WTA circuit, and getting closer and closer to the Top 30 of the ranking. Podoroska managed to reach the quarter-final stage three times throughout the season, at the Yarra Valley Classic in Melbourne, in Belgrade and in Bad Homburg.

To close the year, Nadia plans to play the WTA 125 in Buenos Aires between October 31 and November 7, competing for the first time in her country outside the Billie Jean King Cup. Podoroska will start as top seed in the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
