More accusations of cheating against the Astros

Chicago White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera has hinted that the Houston Astros have started cheating again by stealing signals from opposing teams.

The Texas side were very successful at their home, Minute Maid Park, in the first two clashes – wins 6-1 and 9-4 – before being beaten 12-6 in Windy City. In this third matchup, 16 Astros hitters bit the dust, while there were just as many in the first two games combined.

“They have a reputation for doing crooked things over there,” said Tepera, after his team’s victory. We can say that there is a difference. You could have seen all the failed impulses [dimanche], compared with the first two duels at Minute Maid Park.

“But you know what? This is not what to remember. We came to play. We will compete. We’re not going to worry about what they do. ”

Tepera was obviously referring to a major baseball investigation that concluded in January 2020 that the Astros were guilty of illegally stealing signals, using technology, during their World Series conquest in 2017. , as well as during the 2018 season.

The Astros had used a camera, installed in the center field of their arena, to spy on and steal the signals of their opponents, then hit a trash can to relay the information to the batter. While stealing signals is a strategy in baseball, for example with a runner on second base, doing so using technology is a prohibited practice.

Dusty Baker denies accusations

The Astros scandal resulted in a one-year suspension of manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow. The training of Texas, however, had decided to dismiss the two men.

Dusty Baker was then hired as a replacement manager, a position he still holds.

“I haven’t heard anyone even talking about it,” said the 72-year-old. He can say whatever he wants, I’ve never heard his name before that. No, I really don’t mind. For most of my life, things have been said about me, so I let them speak. ”
