Indonesia and Japan Qualify for the Quarterfinals

Indonesia and Japan have made sure to qualify for the 2020 Uber Cup quarter-finals. You can see the 2020 Uber Cup standings here.

Indonesia won its second victory in Group A of the 2020 Uber Cup after defeating France on Monday (11/10/2021) at Ceres Arena, Aarhus, Denmark. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung et al won with a score of 4-1.

Gregoria opened Indonesia’s victory by defeating Marie Batomene 21-18, 21-13. Putri Kusuma Wardani then doubled Indonesia’s advantage with a win over Leonice Huet with a score of 21-9, 21-8.

Indonesia secured victory through Apriyani Rahayu/Putri Syaikah who beat Margot Lambert/Anne Tran 21-13, 21-10.

However, Indonesia then dropped points after Nandini Putri Arumni had to withdraw due to injury. Nandini retreated 12-21, 21-16, 17-20 to Yaelle Hoyaux.

Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Ribka Sugiarto solidified Indonesia’s victory in the last party. They beat Marie Batomene/Delphine Delrue in a tight duel with a score of 23-21, 22-20.

From other matches, Japan again won a perfect 5-0 victory over Germany. Previously, Akane Yamaguchi et al also won 5-0 over France in the first match.

Those results put Japan at the top of Group A with two wins. While Indonesia is in second place with the same number of points.

Japan and Indonesia will then face each other on Tuesday (12/10/2021) starting at 18.30 WIB. This match will compete for group champion status.
