Monica Puig, Olympic tennis champion in Rio 2016, commits to her partner

Puerto Rican tennis player Monica Puig, Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro 2016, announced this Saturday that she was engaged to her partner, also tennis player Nathan Rakitt.

Puig, 28, described on his official Instagram account that Rakitt proposed to him while they were visiting the Lost Duchtman State Park, in Arizona (USA).

“Ready to jump?” Rakitt asked Puig, to which the tennis player replied: “Yes.”

They are both 28 years old.

Rakitt, born in Rhode Island but living in the state of Georgia, studied and played tennis at Georgia Tech University.

Puig was also a partner of American baseball player Derek Dietrich, who has played for the Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds.

His last season in the majors was in 2020 with the Rangers.
