Look ahead, Jörg!

the SturmNetz-Readers’ evaluations of the individual players as well as the coach and the referee team of the last game have been completed and all entries have been evaluated. We calculated the average of all grades received for each player and added a (subjective) written assessment. After every match, we not only want grades, but also an honorable title „Man Of The Match“ awarded to the player with the best overall average rating.

David Affengruber – Note 2,40

As so often this season, the young central defender had a rock solid performance for his 20 years. It was to be foreseen that he would be left behind in one situation or another against the lightning-fast offensive division of Salzburg. Hard-working and calm in the build-up game as well as your MOTM.

Jon Gorenc Stankovic – Note 2.54

If the opposing team allowed it, the Slovenian mimed the Schwoazen’s control center on Sunday. In the first half, Jon Gorenc Stankovic played the wonderfully timed deep pass to Jantscher, which, however, failed after the goalkeeper ran out. However, due to the occasional superiority of the home team, the defensive midfielder was primarily occupied with defending.

Gregory Wüthrich – Note 2,73

As with central defender Affengruber, it was not primarily the Swiss that conceded four goals in Salzburg. Gregory Wüthrich fought for every ball and shone with good tackles against admittedly strong Salzburgers. The 26-year-old defensive man would have caused a penalty after the goal, had it not been for the VAR foul by Andreas Ulmer on Andreas Kuen. But: would have, would have, bicycle chain. Wüthrich can definitely see something positive out of the game.

Jakob Jantscher – grade 2.84

The Styrian could not use his first big opportunity in the first half, but Jakob Jantscher was wide awake after the break and dusted off dryly to the 2: 1 connection in the meantime. Otherwise, the fruit grower showed his usual willingness to work and the just as usual anger should things go differently than planned.

Jusuf Gazibegovic – Note 2,93

There were great fears that Jusuf Gazibegovic sustained a serious injury in the game against Real Sociedad. This concern was unfounded, as the full-back was back from the start against RB Salzburg three days later. Against the series champion, the very young audience favorite found it difficult to set accents on the offensive. In defensive work, Gazibegovic showed the solid performance that is now expected of him.

Amadou Dante – Note 3.03

Amadou Dante had to move to the unfamiliar position of 8 in the midfield diamond due to the injury-related loss of Stefan Hierländer. The left winger, who was born in Mali, nevertheless tried to live up to his role with a lot of leg work and dedication. There was relatively little progress and especially with Rasmus Kristensen Dante had his problems, but he did not allow everything.

Kelvin Yeboah – Note 3,13

Especially the first half was one to forget because of the lack of opportunities for Kelvin Yeboah. Immediately after the half-time break, with his shot at goalkeeper Philipp Köhn, he was able to make a significant contribution to the fact that SK Sturm was able to make things exciting again. However, there were no more highlights for the striker.

Anderson Niangbo – Note 3,26

Once again, Anderson Niangbo was preferred to Ivan Ljubic as a tenth. Although it can be seen that the loan player has now been able to integrate into the team, the real full-blooded striker was unable to initiate or even complete any compelling offensive actions against Salzburg.

Andreas Kuen – Note 3,56

Andreas Kuen was unable to make a lasting contribution to the offensive. The Tyrolean also looked extremely unhappy when he scored the fourth goal.

Alexandar Borkovic – Note 3.95

The newcomer only slipped into the starting line-up shortly before kick-off, when captain Stefan Hierländer had to give in during the warm-up. Alexandar Borkovic took the position of Amadou Dante and did his job quite well, at least defensively. You probably want other opponents and game courses to be able to play yourself in the limelight.

Jörg Siebenhandl – grade 3.98

The 31-year-old goalie has embodied reliability in person for years. But the last two games of SK Sturm Graz are sometimes proof of the ingratitude of the profession of professional soccer goalie. After the mistake against Real Sociedad, Jörg Siebenhandl had to go behind him once too often against RB Salzburg. The Viennese are known for having outstanding strengths on a mental level. A circumstance that will be useful for processing these days. The regular goalkeeper acted as usual rock solid and remained powerless with the other goals conceded.

Substitute players:

Manprit Sarkaria – grade 3.16 (from the 63rd minute of the game)

Manprit Sarkaria tried diligently to get into the last third of Salzburg with dribbles. The offensive spirit was able to breathe some life into the attacking game of SK Sturm, but countable things did not look out of it.

Ivan Ljubic – grade 3.34 (from the 70th minute of the game)

In his 20 minutes or so, Ivan Ljubic was unable to contribute to the game with any noteworthy actions. The now 25-year-old found difficult conditions, however, shortly after his substitution, the 1: 3 fell from a black and white point of view.

Niklas Geyrhofer – Grade 3.20 (from the 78th minute of the game)

Used too short

Christoph Lang – grade 3.29 (from the 78th minute of the game)

Used too short

Lukas Jäger – grade 3.71 (from the 78th minute of the game)

Used too short

Other reviews:

Christian Ilzer – Note: 3,25

It was anything but an optimal start to the game, as coach Christian Ilzer had to change over at short notice. With his half-time address he seemed to have given the team the necessary information on how to crack Salzburg. One cannot blame him for much, the author could not recognize tactical mistakes.

The referee team around Manuel Schüttengruber – grade: 2.39

Manuel Schüttengruber and his team delivered a passable performance. There was little need for discussion and the VAR stepped in at the right moments with the right intentions.

The SturmNetz team thanks for 120 received reviews and does not dedicate the man-of-the-match but the number one Jörg Siebenhandl the following number:

12
