Latvia’s opponent Sweden announces three NHL players who plan to play in Beijing – Hockey

In February 2022, in the hockey tournament of the Beijing Olympic Games, the Latvian national team will play in one subgroup with Sweden, Finland and Slovakia.

Sweden has said it plans to help strikers Mika Zibanejad (Rangers of New York) and Gabriel Landeskog (Avlaanche, Colorado), as well as defender Viktor Hedman (Lightning of Tampa Bay).

The 28-year-old Zibanejad scored 50 points in 24 games in the regular NHL season in the regular championship – 24 goals and 26 assists.

In 2018, Zibanejad was one of the team leaders, helping the Swedish team to triumph in the World Cup. He scored 11 points (6 + 5) in 10 games.

The 28-year-old Landeskog is a two-time (2013 and 2017) world champion in the Swedish national team, as well as a silver medalist at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.

In the previous NHL season, the Landeskogs scored 52 points in 54 games in the regular championship – 20 goals and 32 assists.

The 30-year-old Hedman, on the other hand, has won gold in the 2010 and 2017 World Championships.

Hedman with the Lightning team is a two-time NHL champion or Stanley Cup winner in 2020 and 2021.

In 2020, Hedman was named the Stanley Cup MVP or Most Valuable Player, and in 2018 he was named Season’s Best Defender.

It has already been reported that NHL stars Sydney Crosby, Connor McDdevid and Alex Petrangelo were the first to be invited to the Canadian hockey team to participate in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

The Beijing Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20.
