Espanyol sealed the second consecutive win of the season against Cádiz at the RCDE Stadium with a goal by Raúl de Tomás just before the half and an own goal by Chust, after a shot by Nico Melamed in the 66th minute.

The Andalusian team was progressively diluted in the punch and the host’s hunger, ready to convince the 15,678 spectators who gathered in the stands. Cervera tried to energize his team’s game with three simultaneous changes in 70, although there was no epic.

Espanyol started sending clearly. Cádiz found the notices of Darder and Pedrosa, but, above all, an incisive Raúl de Tomas. RDT insistently searched for the goal until he got it. After 30 minutes of meeting, the forward sent a ball to the post.

Later, in the final stretch of the first half, he also had a heads-up against Ledesma. And when everything pointed to zero to zero being the result at halftime, the blue and white reference unraveled a play in the small area to sign the first goal of the night, his fourth goal this season.

The Andalusian team did not start harmlessly and even raised a solid football on the parakeet turf. He had a chance from Sobrino who could make his head shot. However, he ended up withdrawn in the first half against Espanyol who showed much more hunger and, above all, hit.

In the resumption, the Catalans did not let the script change. With more pause, but with the same danger above, Vicente Moreno’s men chased the second goal. They were close to achieving it in the 57th minute, but Raúl de Tomás’ goal was annulled by a clear offside.

It was the prelude to the second. Nine minutes later, in ’66, Nico Melamed fired the ball, it collided with Chust and It ended up at the bottom of the net. Another award for the greater insistence of the Catalan team against a rival without options.

Perhaps that is why Cervera, Cádiz coach, opted for a triple change in minute 70: Negredo, Álex and Martín entered. More gunpowder to try to reverse a clash that seemed increasingly closed.

His move was close to working. In the 88th minute he had a clear chance for Negredo: his header skimmed the post. However, there was no room for epic. Espanyol used up their changes, cooled the duel and secured the victory.
