Minister of State -Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir claimed that Bank Syariah Indonesia was included in the top 10 largest companies in the world for the Islamic finance industry category.
According to Erick Thohir, this can happen after companies engaged in Islamic finance are united into one unit. Previously, several banks in Indonesia had opened their own sharia services.
“BSI, a sharia bank that was once alone, was combined with number 7 in Indonesia. In the world, it is in the top ten,” said Erick in an interview with Putri Tanjung which aired on the YouTube channel, Saturday (30/10).
In addition to BSI, he also said that Pelindo is now the eighth largest container company in the world after he united the company under the Ministry of SOEs.
“Pelindo, which will always stand alone, are combined,” he said.
Some companies, once managed properly, can become big companies that are quite promising.
Of course, Erick said this is a sign that Indonesia actually has a promising market if it is managed properly and can open up job opportunities for the community.
“This is no longer the era when our market is only used as a market for other countries. I am not anti-foreign but we have to make sure our market is used for our economic growth,” said Erick.
