A year after the roof of the Jacques-Anquetil gymnasium in Bosroumois collapsed, most associations have resumed their activities. This is the case for example of the ASBR Judo du Roumois. Previously, all classes were given in the gymnasium.

“Now the children go to Boissey-le-Châtel and the adults to Bourg-Achard”, explains Yvon Moyon, the president of the club. If he believes he “was lucky” to find two dojos fairly quickly after the collapse of the roof of the gymnasium, the remoteness of judo lessons has hurt the club.

“We had 250 members three years ago, this year if we have 70 registered we will be happy. “

According to him, offering courses in Bourg-Achard and Boissey-le-Châtel makes him lose registrations. “It’s far too far for the people of Bosc Roger… They prefer to go to La Londe or Elbeuf,” he regrets. Today, the association lives on its savings, “we no longer invest”, and impatiently awaits to be able to reinvest its gymnasium.

The gym section has closed

Of the 6 sports associations that used the gymnasium regularly, only one did not survive. The gymnastics section, which had around 300 members, closed in June 2021. “It was one of our biggest sections, it’s a shame,” comments Alexandra Lecoq, president of the Amicale Sportive de Bosc-Roger. The section was already “on borrowed time for years”, and the Covid added to the loss of the gymnasium would have “condemned” it.

According to Alexandra Lecoq, the members of the various sports associations are “disappointed that all activities are relocated”.

“Now that we can do sport in a club again, people wanted to get back to their gym. “

Demotivation affects members but also volunteers, as at ASBR Basket. Because if the number of registrations in this new school year has increased, “we are reaching a new audience”, the fact of dividing the training between Bourg-Achard, Boissey-le-Châtel and Thuit de l’Oison requires a new organization to the association team. “You have to move the equipment from one room to another,” explains Philippe Viard. The distance is also a concern for the matches to come. “We will have to find volunteers ready to make the trip …”

Offshored activities

The bodybuilding association, it does not wait for the reopening of the Bosroumois gymnasium. “We will not come back to it”, expresses Eric Ludwig. His association was in an annex of the gymnasium, “an unsanitary place, where buckets of water were placed because of the infiltrations”. After a year without activity, the association has a new room at Thuit de l’Oison. “We were very well received, it’s 4 times bigger than before. We are delighted. “

The problem that everyone expresses is the lack of information concerning the situation of the gymnasium. “Everyone is trying to hold on, but it’s difficult without any information,” explains Alexandra Lecoq.

Expertise is in progress

The gymnasium belongs to the Roumois Seine community of municipalities. During the last council, on September 27, the elected Bosroumois Maryannick Verdure tried to find out more. “The associations ask me where it is, they are losing members, I do not know what to answer them”, she launched to the president. “The work is in progress,” he replies.

Since the collapse there have been “three or four” visits by insurance experts. “We do not know what caused the collapse”, explains the 1st deputy mayor, Michaël Ono-dit-Biot.

“We know that the gymnasium is repairable, that’s good news. ”

With the Covid, the visits have been postponed and we still do not know when the work could begin. Monday October 4, a new visit of the expert was to take place, “but we do not know if it is the last …” confides the first deputy.
