With 11 days to go until the season resumes, Ben Simmons has still not set foot in Philadelphia, and according to The Athletic, there is not even the slightest deal and he is going to put his house up for sale.
If the leaders of the Sixers dreamed of a reconciliation, when Rich Paul tried to convince his client, they can mourn it. Unless you are certain of a transfer in the short term, Ben Simmons will not return, and fines and salary suspensions will not change him.
Perhaps that is why the Sixers continue to take calls from opposing teams, and our colleagues report that there have been discussions with the Blazers. Not for Damian Lillard, Daryl Morey’s dream target, but for CJ McCollum. He’s not a pure point guard, but it would be an interesting counterpart, and the discussions revolved around a trade between the two players. Except that the Sixers, once again, were too greedy since they also wanted three first rounds of Draft, but also the possibility of trading picks for three more years! Portland (obviously) refused, and the discussions are over.
We will still remember that the Sixers are ready to recover a player who is not All-Star, but to compensate, they want to fill up with Draft choices. Too high requirements for the Blazers, and probably for other interested franchises. These are the Pistons, Pacers, Raptors, Spurs and Wolves.
