It’s over between Ahmed Marei and the Egyptian men’s basketball team. The Pharaohs coach has tendered his resignation to the Egyptian Basketball Federation.
The authority indicated that it had received Marei’s resignation with the reason for his desire to concentrate with his club Ittihad Alexandria, which he trained in parallel with the Pharaohs.
At the head of the technical bar of the Egyptian selection since 2019, Marei simultaneously coached the flagship club Alexandria with which he lifted the Egyptian Super League title in 2020 as well as two Egyptian Cups. Not to mention the Arab Club Basketball Championship in 2019.
Marei didn’t have the same success with the Pharaohs getting knocked out of the 2021 Afrobasket play-offs by losing three of his four games in this tournament.
