35 years ago Bill Buckner’s famous mistake in 1986 SM

Baseball is full of incredible plays that on many occasions manage to give the ninth important victories, but there are also plays with errors that turn out to be very expensive, especially if it is a World Series.

By 1986, Boston made it to the series for the title representing the American League, while Mets he did it for the National League. Leading 3-2 in the series and leading 5-2 in the 10th inning, the Red Sox was three strikes away from winning the Fall Classic.

The pitching started to get complicated. Received the National League Batting Champion Award in 1980 and a year later he went to Stars game. He posted 2,715 hits and finished with a .289 batting average. Despite the large numbers, Buckner is remembered for the costly 1986 World Series mistake today.

As of May 27, 2019, Bill Buckner passed away at 69 years of age after fighting Dementia with Lewy bodies, a disease characterized by progressive deterioration of the brain.
