Max Verstappen managed to win the duel with Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 United States GP F1. The Red Bull Racing driver came out as the winner of this series.
In the race which was held at the Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas, Monday (25/10/2021) early in the morning, Verstappen, who held the pole position, was in tight competition with Hamilton, who followed him from the second position.
Hamilton even overtook Verstappen at the first corner after the start. After that, Verstappen had followed Hamilton from lap to lap and even his speed was above his rival. On lap 10 Verstappen entered the first lap to change tires.
Meanwhile, Sergio Perez was left to annoy Hamilton. Four laps later it was Hamiilton’s turn to pit and unfortunately he was behind Verstappen on his return to the track. Hamilton is now taking turns chasing Verstappen and the distance is always cut until the 26th lap.
Max Verstappen entered the pit on lap 30 and came out behind Perez as well as Hamilton. Verstappen was then given the go -ahead by Perez to get into P2 to approach Hamilton who was leading the race.
Right on lap 37, Verstappen took the lead again because Hamilton entered the pits. The competition was getting hotter in the last 10 laps when Verstappen was only 2.9 seconds ahead of Hamilton and continued to be trimmed. It even touched under 1.6 seconds in the remaining five laps.
In the last two laps Lewis Hamilton got closer to Verstappen to steal the opportunity but again failed. Even when DRS was used, Hamilton could not stop Verstappen’s pace to cross the finish line the first time with a time advantage of 1.333 seconds.
Hamilton had to settle for second, followed by Perez on the last podium. Completing the top five were Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo. In sixth to tenth positions are Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda, and Sebastian Vettel.
With an additional 25 points. Max Verstappen is at the top of the 2021 F1 standings with 287.5 points, 12 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in second place. The competition for the world championship title is getting tighter in the last five series between Verstappen and Hamilton.
