Union striker Kruse no longer believes in Flick’s invitation

Berlin (dpa) – Max Kruse would like to be part of the German national soccer team again, but the Berliner does not expect a new appointment.

“I am 99 percent sure that I will no longer receive an invitation,” said the 1. FC Union Berlin professional in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. The 33-year-old said: “Hansi Flick was already part of the coaching staff under Jogi Löw, so his opinion is probably just as stuck as it was with Löw. I have come to terms with that,” said Kruse.

The Union professional played 14 international matches and was removed from the national team squad in March 2016 by then national coach Joachim Löw. At the Olympics in the summer, Kruse was in the German selection after outstanding performances in the Bundesliga, and caused a sensation in Tokyo with a marriage proposal in front of the TV camera.

National coach Hansi Flick wants to announce his squad for the international matches against Romania (October 8) and North Macedonia (October 11) in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday. “If my qualities were still in demand, I would like to be there, but I’m not counting on it now,” said Kruse.
