Two weeks before the start of the competition, Padraig Harrington has decided to invite Shane Lowry, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia to complete the European team which will play the 2021 edition of the Ryder Cup.

Padraig Harrington has made his choice. While the European team will defend from September 24 to 26 in Whistling Straits, Wisconsin, the Ryder Cup won in 2018 at the Golf National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the captain of the Vieux team Continent has given its full list of the twelve players who will take part in the competition. Paul Casey, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Lee Westwood and Bernd Wiesberger have all earned their places in performance, through their rankings both in Europe and globally. To these nine players, Padraig Harrington has decided to add three players chosen at his sole discretion. Shane Lowry, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia obtained this Sunday these last tickets for the Ryder Cup 2021, which was initially to take place last year but which was postponed for a year due to the health context.

Pérez missed the cut

A postponement of twelve months which did not do the business of Victor Pérez. While the French number 1 had sufficient performance in 2020 to obtain the selection that would have made him the successor of Victor Dubuisson, the last Habs to have participated in the Ryder Cup in 2014. Only 49th this weekend in Surrey, Victor Pérez failed to reverse the trend and will have to watch the duel between Americans and Europeans in front of his small screen. In the American team led by Steve Stricker, we find world numbers 3 and 4 Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay alongside Olympic champion Xander Sc Chaudele, Harris English, Daniel Berger, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. A very high level team, but with no less than six players who have never taken part in the Ryder Cup, with its unique atmosphere.
