Considered one of the best leaders of his generation, Russell Westbrook has one big flaw on his record: the lack of a ring. A counterpart set him a challenge, with a huge reward at the end.
9-time All-Star, League MVP, Triple-Double King and more: Russell Westbrook has one of the busiest resumes in the NBA. Soon to be 33, however, time is running out to finally win a ring. Defeated in Oklahoma City, especially in 2012 and 2016, then in Houston a little more recently, Brodie joined the Lakers superteam to finally check this box.
A strong choice that leaves no doubt about his sole will at this stage of his career: to lift this damn Larry O’Brien trophy, following which he will be able, as late as possible, to take a well-deserved retirement with the feeling of duty accomplished. Russ has also indicated to his acolytes that he was ready to make the necessary sacrifices, a sign that the stats are no longer the priority for the former Wizard.
So will Westbrook go get the sesame? No one knows at this time. But for Brandon Jennings, former NBA point guard notably known for his time in Milwaukee, a Westbrook ring would upset a lot of things in the hierarchy of all-time leaders:

In other words, Jennings believes that the Brodie would have a place in the pantheon of the best point guards in history, amidst illustrious names, all Hall of Famers. It remains to be seen the place of which RW would take in this unofficial classification. Names like Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, Steph Curry, John Stockton, Jerry West, Jason Kidd and others are all contenders.
Westbrook will have plenty of time to think about it anyway if he manages to accomplish his goal. For now, we have to go get the title, and nothing else. Any discussions will take place afterwards, even if they give a glimpse of very good prospects …
According to Brandon Jennings, Russell Westbrook could integrate the supreme royalty of the leaders if he manages to glean this ring with the Lakers. It remains to charcoal, and go look for this title that would complete the CV of Brodie!
