The Galician tennis player Martín de la Puente has made history by becoming the first Spaniard to reach the ‘Top 10’ of the world ranking of chair tennis, by ascending to tenth place in this classification.
Winner of 16 titles on the ITF international circuit and recent eighth finalist at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, the 22-year-old from Vigo had already achieved the best ranking of a Spaniard in eleventh place last July, one more than that achieved by Daniel Caverzaschi from Madrid in 2019.
“After the joy of the Paralympic Diploma in Tokyo 2020, now among the 10 best players in the world, the first Spanish player to achieve it. Thank you very much for your support to achieve it,” De la Puente celebrated on his personal ‘Twitter’ account. .
In addition to De la Puente, in the ‘Top 100’ there are also Caverzaschi himself (13), Enrique Siscar from Murcia (43), Francesc Tur from Barcelona (44) and Francisco García Vena from Córdoba (68).
