The strongest men’s volleyball national teams in the old world will compete in the European Championship, which will take place in four countries. After a 26-year break, the Latvian national team will take part in the final tournament of the continental championship, meeting in the first round of the first game in Tallinn with the hosts Estonians, who are for the first time in honor of the organizers.

The Latvian national team, led by Avo Kehl, will start after a proper preparation phase, and the team arrived in the Estonian capital on Monday. The Estonian and Latvian national teams met four times in 2021, winning the Nordic Games with 3: 0 victories in all games. So far, for the last time, Latvian volleyball players have managed to beat Estonia in the 2013 World Cup qualifying game.

The games in Estonia will take place in the “Saku Suurhall” arena, where the Latvian national team and home duel will start at seven in the evening.

In the continuation of the group’s round, Latvians will still be waiting for the games against Croatia, Slovakia, Germany and the owner of the Tokyo Olympic gold in France. If the Latvian national team enters the eighth final, the elimination tournament team will start in the Czech city of Ostrava.

The final of the European Championship will take place in Estonia, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic, with national teams from 24 countries participating. The top four teams in the four groups will advance to the first round or round of 16. The playoffs will take place in Poland and the Czech Republic until the final of the champions on September 19 in Katowice.

The Latvian national team last played in the final tournament of the Continental Championship in 1995, when it won the 11th place. On the other hand, Estonians have been left out of the European Championship finals only once since 2009 – in 2013. However, in five European tournaments, the Estonians managed to win only two games.
