Steven Bergwijn starts unhappily in Conference League | Football

Bergwijn had been given a basic place by trainer Bruno Genesio in the away game at Stade Rennes, but could not even complete the first half. A setback for the former PSV player, who successfully returned to the selection at the beginning of this month and eventually to the base of the Dutch national team.

The moment Bergwijn left the field, his team was 1-1. An own goal from Loic Bade quickly put Spurs ahead. Ten minutes later, Flavien Tait leveled the French again, after which Gaëtan Laborde gave the home team the lead. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Bergwijn’s replacement, made it 2-2.

Tottenham and Stade Rennes are in Vitesse’s Conference League group. The Arnhem team won their first game against NS Maura and are leading the group.

Tottenham will play their top game against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Slavia Prague beats ten Union Berlin in group Feyenoord

Slavia Prague has defeated Union Berlin 3-1 in Group E of the Conference League. The Germans were still level with ten men, but had to concede two more goals in the final phase. In the same group, Feyenoord and Maccabi Haifa already drew 0-0 last Tuesday.

Alexander Bah had given the home team from the Czech capital the lead in the 18th minute. Just before half-time, Union’s Paul Jaeckel received his second yellow card for detention. With ten men the Germans still reached the same level. In the 70th minute Kevin Behrens scored on a pass from former ADO player Sheraldo Becker, who had been brought in shortly before. In the final phase, Jan Kuchta and Ivan Schranz scored for Slavia, which therefore leads the group.

Slavia Prague will play the next match against Feyenoord on September 30. Union then meets Maccabi Haifa in Berlin.
