Some time later around midnight, shots were fired again one and a half kilometers further east in Friedrichsfelde. A 27-year-old man was injured in the thigh there. Several bullet holes could be seen on a house entrance door on Köpitzer Strasse. Both victims were taken to hospitals.
The police moved in with heavily armed forces and sealed off both crime scenes, the officers had machine guns with them. The Special Operations Command (SEK) has also been requested in the meantime. According to eyewitnesses, the first shots were fired in Skandinavische Strasse below the Lichtenberger Bridge, northeast of Lichtenberg train station. The second case occurred in the residential area at the intersection of Alt-Friedrichsfelde, Am Tierpark.
Officially, the police could initially only confirm that a major operation was ongoing and that two people had been injured. The fire brigade said it had been alerted because shots were fired and a person was said to have been injured. Police later confirmed details as well.
