Shots in the legs, two injured in Berlin-Lichtenberg: “That speaks for a dispute in the organized crime” – Berlin

In Berlin-Lichtenberg, shots were fired at various locations on Monday night and two men were injured. Each time the shooter had fired his victims in the leg. According to security sources, the two injured are Turkish citizens. The police were on duty with a larger contingent and were looking for the alleged perpetrator.

A police spokeswoman said on Monday morning that the fugitive perpetrator was being sought. A homicide squad had been entrusted with the case. Whether there is a connection between the two acts will be examined. However, the police apparently assume that the perpetrators are the same in both cases. The police union (GdP) speaks of clear indications of a crime in organized crime. night

First, a 36-year-old man was shot late on Sunday evening around 10:30 p.m. Several witnesses unanimously reported two shots in the north of the Rummelsburg district at the Lichtenberger Brücke. He is said to have been hit in the lower leg.

Some time later around midnight, shots were fired again one and a half kilometers further east in Friedrichsfelde. A 27-year-old man was injured in the thigh there. Several bullet holes could be seen on a house entrance door on Köpitzer Strasse. Both victims were taken to hospitals.

The police moved in with heavily armed forces and sealed off both crime scenes, the officers had machine guns with them. The Special Operations Command (SEK) has also been requested in the meantime. The B1 was temporarily blocked from Friedrichsfelde to the east, the police searched the area with a helicopter.

Was it punitive actions in the organized underworld?

In the underworld, shots in the legs are the ultimate warning to a competing group – or a punitive action against business partners. The victims are not killed, but they can be seriously injured. However, if a leg artery is struck, it can lead to death within a few minutes without immediate help.

“The two incidents from the night show that Berlin’s crime does not only take place in Neukölln or other media-known hotspots,” said GdP spokesman Benjamin Jendro on Monday.

“If we look at the previously known process, those involved do not seem to be afraid to put up with the most serious injuries and even deaths with firearms,” said the union spokesman. “That speaks clearly in favor of a dispute in the area of organized crime.”

According to eyewitnesses, the first shots were fired in Skandinavische Strasse below the Lichtenberger Bridge, northeast of Lichtenberg train station. The second case occurred in the residential area at the intersection of Alt-Friedrichsfelde, Am Tierpark.

The eyewitnesses also reported that the alleged perpetrator should have escaped on foot across the bridge, i.e. Bundestrasse 1 and 5. In the second case, eyewitnesses reported that there was a loud bang – as with New Year’s Eve bollards. Several shots had been fired there too.
