Sequel to second part of ‘Kimback’: Clijsters gets wildcard for Indian Wells | Tennis

The BNP Paribas Open, which kicks off next Wednesday, was supposed to take place in March, but was moved to the fall. In 2020, the corona pandemic already threw a spanner in the works on the eve of the well-known tournament in California. Even then Clijsters would start with a wildcard.

The 38-year-old Limburger, who suffered her fourth defeat in four games since her comeback in Chicago this week, last played in Indian Wells in 2011. She won the title in 2003 and 2005. The tournament is invariably well occupied, although Ashleigh Barty (WTA 1), Naomi Osaka (WTA 7) and Serena Williams (WTA 40) have already been absent. USOpen winner Emma Raducanu (WTA 22) does participate with a wildcard.
