This year will be the 31st anniversary of the International Sports Classic, where retired professional basketball stars attend and due to the pandemic the event had to be moved to October, since it normally takes place in May.
At a press conference, Howard Kelsey, co-founder of this event, reported that for the first time in the history of this event that will start this Friday and until Sunday, it will be held in October and the main reason is because of COVID-19; as it had to be postponed in May 2020 due to the fact that the borders of Canada were closed.
The Agustín Flores Contreras auditorium will once again host the competitions.
There will be 20 teams to be had, 12 will be competing in the free category and eight in veterans; However, it will only be the basketball discipline that will be played, since it was not known how the pandemic and the issue of flights would behave in November.
For his part, Armando Cosilión, sports tourism promoter, stressed that year after year this event is consolidated but Puerto Vallarta already requires a better sports infrastructure to host this type of activities and more disciplines such as soccer.
This year competitions will be held with all health measures, with forums allowed for a maximum of 100 people due to the pandemic.
