RB Leipzig: Four questions about the Sabitzer return – Bundesliga

There it is again!

There are just 13 days between ex-captain Marcel Sabitzer (27) moving to Munich and his return to Leipzig.

At the top game on Saturday (6.30 p.m.) there will be a quick reunion. BILD answers the four most important questions.

Who will replace Sabitzer in midfield?

Since the Austrian did not play a game from the start due to an injury, coach Jesse Marsch (47) relied on Tyler Adams in defensive midfield, who played twice with Amadou Haidara and once with Kevin Kampl at his side. The ideal successor is newcomer Ilaix Moriba (18), whose style of play is reminiscent of Sabitzer. But the Guinean still needs time.

Who will be the captain’s successor?

So far, Marsch has relied on a rotation between Peter Gulacsi, Willi Orban and Emil Forsberg for the position of vice-captain. If the American decides on a successor, Gulacsi makes the most sense. The goalkeeper wants to be in the box in every game and wore the armband for the second time in Wolfsburg.

Can RB really afford the Sabitzer loss?

One thing is clear: Sabitzer was able to make the difference with a single action, especially in tight games like Wolfsburg (0: 1) or Mainz (0: 1). RB now lacks this quality. Since the Ösi hardly played at the start of the season anyway, the gap he leaves should not be too big.

Is Sabitzer making his Bayern debut in Leipzig of all places?

Unlikely. The Austrian did not travel to the national team because he is still struggling with adductor problems. If he’s fit, he’ll have to line up behind Joshua Kimmich (26) and Leon Goretzka (26) in the Bayern midfield.
