PARIS – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach, Mauricio Pochettino, was seen celebrating when his star player, Lionel Messi, scored his first goal for his team in the 2021-2022 Champions League. Pochettino also revealed the reason for the celebration.
As is known, La Pulga – Messi’s nickname – finally broke the egg after breaking into the Manchester City goal in the 74th minute in the 2021-2022 Champions League Group A phase. Playing at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Wednesday 29 September 2021 in the early hours of WIB, PSG managed to win with a score of 2-0.
When Messi scored his first goal, Pochettino also celebrated. According to the 49-year-old coach, this was done because he also felt very happy.

Pochettino even believes that in the future Messi can develop even more. His own sense of joy arose because so far he had only seen La Pulga score as an opponent. But now, he saw Messi score that goal for his team so he couldn’t help but celebrate.

“Over the years I have watched Messi score goals, but from the opposition side. And now it’s Messi’s first goal for our team, for my team, I have to celebrate,” Pochettino said.
Pochettino was delighted to see Messi score his first goal for PSG after his departure from Barcelona. The former Tottenham Hotspur coach hopes the 34-year-old can continue to adapt to his new environment.
“You need a performance like this and a player like him needs to feel the support from behind. He needs to make connections in the team after 20 years at Barcelona. He feels different things, there are a lot of new feelings for him.”
“The first goal in our team, now we are in the same team, I really enjoyed and very happy to be here enjoying Leo’s first goal. He’s a top class player, I know I’m not saying anything new, but I think over time he still has room to improve a lot.”
Messi’s own goal is very meaningful for PSG because it brings them now to the top of the standings in Group A. PSG shifts Man City.
