Marquese Chriss has reached an agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers to join their roster. The power forward, already recovered from the fibula fracture suffered last December, will sign an unsecured contract with the Oregon franchise, which will therefore have the right to fire him if his performance is not as expected. Therefore, Chriss will have to fight to earn a place in the final squad during the training camp, which will begin on September 28.
The player comes from a practically blank season, since he could only play two games before suffering the injury that forced him to stop completely. Therefore, for practical purposes it can be considered that 19-20 was his last active season, a course in which he averaged 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds as a Golden State Warriors player. These, satisfied with his performance, guaranteed his second year of contract, but physical problems attacked and prevented him from settling on the San Francisco squad.
Now he must try to do it in Portland, where there are not exactly plenty of great interior references, although the arrival of Larry Nance Jr. reinforces precisely the position that Chriss could occupy. The power forward must try to convince the Blazers that he has recovered his best level so that they maintain their vote of confidence and gradually recover their place in the league after a complicated year of hiatus.
