Sudan 2-4 Guinea-Bissau (Group I)

Even if it should be remembered that it partly benefits from the exceptional circumstances and the report of the match between Guinea and Morocco, Guinea Bissau also emerges as a surprise leader in Group I. After holding the shock against Guinea (1-1), the Djurtus hit hard by winning against in Sudan (4-2) in Omdurman, a field on which it is however very difficult to win.

In the lead 3-0 at the break on a double from the inevitable Piqueti (8th, 39th), and a goal from Frédéric Mendy (11e), Baciro Candé’s men never trembled, even when Mohamed Abdelrahman scored a brace for the locals (55th, 90e+2), the Trojan Mama Baldé (82e) allowing them to keep their distance. The Bissau-Guineans will pass a real test in October with the double confrontation to come against Morocco. For their part, the Sudanese have a second defeat and are very disappointing a few months after having managed to qualify for their first CAN since 2012.
