The first European Formula Kite Championship as an Olympic class in the men’s and women’s categories ends in Montpellier, in which the RFEV team was made up of seven sailors. Gisela Pulido has stood out as the best national athlete, qualifying in position nine of the European general, after achieving the pass to the final series yesterday.

The highlights of the day were thus the semifinal regattas of both categories, with the 12 chosen (positions 3 to 14) divided into two groups of six, to decide the two sailors, both male and female, who would face each other in the Grand Final to the defenders of positions 1 and 2, who had signed their pass by leading the rankings at the end of the fleet races.

The Catalan based in Tarifa Gisela Pulido won yesterday the honor of being among this cast of sailors with a twelfth place in the general. Reaching the first places was very difficult, but Gisela, who has shown to go from less to more in this European, saving a problem with the foil that took its toll on the first day, went out for all.

The Spanish reaped a second and a fourth place that placed her in fourth place in her group, far from being passed to the Final but enough to close her performance in Montpellier in tenth position of the general open. And with the good taste of being among the ten best raiders in Europe at the beginning of this Olympic cycle.

At the end of the championship, Gisela was satisfied and optimistic: “I am happy because I have been coming back and, although with many problems at the technical level of material, I was improving until I reached the Top10. The positive thing is that I have remained strong, with confidence and now there is a lot of desire to have everything ready and fight for the World Cup to be held in October in Torregrande, Italy “.

With regard to the men’s category, the best Spaniard was Alejandro Climent from Valencia, ranked 16th. Today the program contemplated a final test for the entire fleet that could not be disputed due to the late entry of the wind and the time limit to be able to start the race was exceeded.

Antonio Mínguez, RFEV technician who traveled to Montpellier with the team of sailors, positively values this first international meeting for Paris 2024, placing special emphasis on the development of the youngest members of the fleet, “with a lot of work still to be done, but with enough level and potential ”.
