According to the Chinese Judo Association, in order to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics and test the team’s winter training results, the National Judo Training Team and the National Wrestling Training Team held a physical fitness contest on May 31 at the Beijing Olympic Sports Center.

This event was sponsored by the Department of Competitive Sports of the State General Administration of Sports and undertaken by the Olympic Sports Center. A total of 4 individual events including ergometer (500 meters), pull-ups, 30-meter sprints, and 3000-meters were conducted. This competition is a test of the team’s physical training since the winter training. Through the competition, the team not only made progress and breakthroughs in each individual event, but also enhanced the team’s spiritual strength in unity.

A total of 23 female athletes from the National Judo Training Team participated and won 3 championships and 3 runners-up in 4 women’s individual competitions. Seven male athletes of the National Judo Training Team participated in the competition, winning one championship and two runner-ups in the men’s four individual events.

According to reports, the national judo training team has adhered to the principle of high intensity and large amount of training since the winter training, strengthened physical fitness, made up for shortcomings, and adhered to the training mode of four training a day. The coaching staff designed 10 physical fitness indicators that combine basic physical fitness with specific physical fitness. Including tyre rolls, climbing machines, rowing machines, bench presses, squats, etc., to promote the national judo physical consciousness change and training strengthening.
