“More fear than harm”: footballer Jeff Reine-Adélaïde reassures about his state of health

The news is reassuring. After receiving a ball in the face and collapsing, unconscious, on the pitch this Saturday during the match between his Molenbeek team and Charleroi in Belgium, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde worried the world of football. His trainer, Yannick Ferreira, even feared “a brain hemorrhage” given the violence of the shock.

A scenario dismissed early this Sunday morning by the former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder, who spoke on his Instagram account: “Thank you for your messages of support, more fear than harm” we can read in a story published by the 26-year-old player.

The player’s entourage also wanted to reassure by giving more details. “Jeff is doing well, there is no hemorrhage or after-effects,” it says, even though the player suffered from a concussion. RWD Molenbeek has not yet officially communicated on the player’s state of health.

Holder in this relegation playoff match lost 3-1 by his team, Reine-Adélaïde lost consciousness shortly before half-time, remaining unconscious for around ten minutes before being evacuated on a stretcher.

Passed by Arsenal in his youth, the French international hopefuls revealed himself at Angers before becoming the biggest transfer in the history of OL in August 2019.
