Cristiano Ronaldo scores on Manchester United’s second debut
It takes just over 45 minutes for CR7 to cheer United fans for the first time on his second engagement in Manchester.
Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made a dream start in his second debut for Manchester United in the Premier League against Newcastle United: The Portuguese scored the 1-0 goal for the hosts at Old Trafford in stoppage time in the first half.
Mason Greenwood had pulled from the edge of the box. Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman let the leather ricochet forward, where Ronaldo was spot on and netted from close range (45th + 1).
Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo is in the starting line-up
United played superior up to this point, but created few chances. Ronaldo himself played committed until his goal, but he did not pose a major threat.
The 36-year-old was ordered directly into the starting line-up by United team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. There he took on the role of the striker, followed by Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and the strong ex-BVB attacker Jadon Sancho.
Ronaldo moved back to the Red Devils from Juventus about two weeks ago. There he had great successes between 2003 and 2009, including winning the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or.
