The American Patrick Cantlay maintained his first place at the end of the third round of the PGA Tour Championship, Saturday in Atlanta, he who even increased his lead to two strokes.

The 29-year-old entered the last tournament of the season with a score of -10, even without having made a single swing, due to his first place in the FedEx Cup standings.

On this third day of activity, Cantlay took three par 70 shots from the East Lake Golf Club. The leader had three birdies on the first half of the course, but had a second roller coaster nine, stalling three birdies and as many bogueys.

“I like to play under pressure because that’s what I’ve always been practicing,” said Cantlay, whose words were echoed by the PGA site at the end of his day.

After 54 holes, he leads the final leg of the FedEx Cup series with a score of -10. He will therefore have a serious advantage, Sunday, in the last round, in order to get his hands on the $ 15 million given to the winner.

“Being able to include myself in that kind of moment is why I practiced all those hours when I was young, and even all my life,” Cantlay added. Being able to do it when it matters most is exactly what I play for, the reason I love golf. I love that.”

However, he will have to be wary of Spaniard Jon Rahm. Although the latter played one more stroke than Cantlay in the third round, he was only two shots behind the leader. Rahm had three birdies against a single boguey in his third outing on the course in the state of Georgia.

Justin Thomas is third in the tournament with a score of -15, five strikes from the head.

The only Maple Leaf representative in contention, Corey Conners, played the par of 70 in the third round. His score of -2 earned him 22nd place, tied with three other participants, 18 strokes behind Cantlay.

In addition, the American Brooks Koepka retired in the middle of his round. During the 10th pennant, the 31-year-old athlete sent his ball under a tree. While striking his second blow, he injured his wrist when he struck the root of the tree. However, it was at the 13th pennant that he retired as a preventive measure, he who has already been injured on the same wrist in the past.
