Busy activity on the judo mat

Big ceremonies are not announced these days, but not even the ubiquitous virus can do anything against great joy. And so the judo department of the TG Münster celebrated a week ago and given the occasion in a small group, but with great effect. In June of this year, it was named the official talent base for the competition-oriented young Judoka in the U 15 age group, three months later Erik Goertz, managing director of the NRW Judo Association and youth education officer, delivered the formal handover of the certificate and the official sign on Lotharinger Strasse. The TG is thus one of only seven junior judo bases in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Third base in the TG

After the fencers and the trampoline jumpers, the third Olympic sport operates as a state performance base under the umbrella of the gymnastics community. Undoubtedly also thanks to the base manager Kai Strietzel, who was responsible for the youth training of the U15s between 2009 and 2014 and since then has kept a watchful eye on the young judokas of the TG as a full-time trainer. In 2019 he won the association league title with the senior team – and has been the reigning champion for two years due to the lack of league operations.

League operation still unresolved

It is still unclear whether and how league operations can be resumed in January, but training is already busy again. The young fighters are there with great enthusiasm and are happy to finally be able to do their sport again on the mat and in community. All enthusiastic, committed and motivated boys and girls in the U 15 age group are welcome to the base training.
