MADRID, Spain – Rafael Nadal, after receiving treatment for his left foot, will have to remain fully rested for a few days and away from the courts for a few more weeks, the Spanish champion announced on his Instagram account on Saturday.

“I was in Barcelona with my team and a medical team to receive foot treatment, which will keep me resting for a few days and away from the courts for several weeks,” Nadal wrote, below a photo of him. , crutches in the hand and the left foot encased in a bandage or a cast.

“Back home and in the process of recovery,” added the Spaniard in his message, without saying the word “operation” or specifying what type of care it is.

On August 20, the Mallorcan, then world No. 4, announced that he was ending his season due to a pain in his left foot which almost deprived him of competition since his elimination in the semi-finals at Roland- Garros in June.

According to the Spanish press, Nadal suffers from Muller-Weiss syndrome, a degenerative disease that causes a deformation of one of the bones located in the central part of the foot.
