Rome: after receiving a water bottle on the head the day before, Novak Djokovic arrives with a helmet at the stadium

Novak Djokovic may have taken a big hit to the head, but he hasn’t lost his mischief. The world number one showed up at the Foro Italico with a bicycle helmet on his head this Saturday. The day before, he had received a spectator’s water bottle on the head and collapsed in pain after his victory against Frenchman Corentin Moutet at the Masters 1000 in Rome.

So, on Saturday, the Serb got out of the car taking him to the stadium with a rather unexpected headgear. Over his cap, he wore a bicycle helmet, to protect himself from another falling bottle. Novak Djokovic then went to sign autographs, before taking part in his training session of the day. “Today I came prepared,” he laughs on X.

On Friday, he collapsed in pain after being hit by a spectator’s bottle. Even if this shock was accidental, since the object had slipped from the backpack of a man who was leaning forward to approach the tennis player as he left the court.

The images quickly ignited social networks. Novak Djokovic finally reassured about his condition in a tweet: “Thank you for your messages worrying about me. It was an accident and I’m fine, resting at the hotel with an ice pack. »

The world number one will return to competition this Sunday, in the round of 32 of the Masters 1000 in Rome. He will face Chilean world number 32 Alejandro Tabilo. For the occasion, perhaps he will even take his helmet off his head.
