Arsenal sign Tomiyasu from Bologna, loan Bellerin to Real Betis

Arsenal officially recruited Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna on the last day of the 2021 summer market. Meanwhile, Hector Bellerin was released to Real Betis.

Arsenal brought the Japan international with a ransom of 19.8 million pounds sterling (Rp 387.3 billion). Tomiyasu, who can play as agreed on a four-year contract or 2025.

Tomiyasu is only 22 years old and able to operate as a center back and right back. He started his career at Avispa Fukuoka and then began his adventure in Europe with Belgian club Sint-Truiden.

In the summer of 2019, Tomiyasu was signed by Bologna and spent about two seasons there making 64 appearances in Serie A. Tomiyasu contributed three goals before accepting Arsenal’s offer.

“I promise you that I will give everything to contribute to the team. I look forward to meeting you at the stadium,” said Tomiyasu, quoted from Arsenal’s Twitter account.

Meanwhile, right-back Hector Bellerin returns to Spain. Arsenal loaned Bellerin to Real Betis for the entire 2021/2022 season.

“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Hector the best of luck with Real Betis this season,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Bellerin is one of the longest-serving players in the current Arsenal squad. Since being promoted to the Gunners first team in 2013, Bellerin has made 239 appearances across competitions and won three FA Cup winners’ medals and three Community Shields.

However, this season Bellerin did not appear in Arsenal’s first three games in the Premier League. Coach Mikel Arteta prefers Calum Chambers or Cedric Soares at right-back.
