The Washington Football Team is banning fans from wearing Native American props and painting their faces in their stadium.

According to a email sent to fans this Wednesday (4), the Washington team explained the decision.

“We are excited to welcome everyone wearing their burgundy and gold,” they said in the statement. “However, Native American-inspired headdresses or face paint can no longer be used in the stadium.”

Previously, the franchise announced who wouldn’t use the Warriors moniker or anything that might have to do with natives.

So far, there is still no confirmation for the new name of WFT. However, the new name is likely to go public before the 2022 season. While the new moniker is not defined, the franchise has started using Football Team since last year.

The Washington team will make their debut in 2021 against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 12th.
