Warriors owner Joe Lacob doesn’t believe in another trade for a star

The Golden State Warriors did not thread a trade for a star on the day of the draft. If it’s up to owner Joe Lacob, in all likelihood nothing will change.

In an interview with Anthony Slater from The Athletic Lacob stated that it was “very unlikely” that the dubs will still trade for a star. “We’re not going to make a trade just because people expect it. It’s very unlikely,” added Lacob.

Instead, the Warriors want to manage the balancing act of playing for the title on the one hand and developing their own young players in the squad on the other. Last year, Warriors Center moved James Wiseman to second place, in this draft Golden State grabbed two talented wingers with seventh and 14th picks in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

In the run-up to the draft, there was a lot of speculation about whether Golden State should not swap the picks in a package with one or the other player for a star. There were reports that Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green had asked management to trade for another star.
