Rested and fully focused: Jannik Sinner will tackle the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati next week.

Jannik Sinner (ATP 15) lived through turbulent days. The grand victory at the ATP 500 tournament in Washington was followed by a quick break at the Masters tournament in Toronto. Now Sinner is rested again – and therefore wants to attack again at the next Masters 1000 in Cincinnati (hard court).

Sinner was recently in the travel stress. Immediately after his final victory in Washington last Sunday, he had to travel to Toronto, just under 600 kilometers away, where he was back in action two days later. But there was a two-sentence defeat against the Australian James Duckworth.

Sinner turns 20 on Monday

Perhaps the youngster from Sesto, who celebrates his 20th birthday on Monday, did well because he was able to take a few days off and prepare for the next Masters tournament in Cincinnati ($ 3.02 million in prize money). In the very busy tournament (with Daniil Medvedev and Olympic champion Alexander Zverev, among others), Sinner will meet Argentine clay court specialist Federico Delbonis, currently number 47 in the world rankings, in the first round.

Should Sinner survive the first lap, another tough piece awaits. Then the Pusterer would either meet the American service monster John Isner (ATP 30) or the Briton Cameron Norrie (ATP 29). Incidentally, Sinner has never played against Delbonis, Isner or Norrie in his career.
